The Story Of The Brunch

Jennifer Graham
The Ladies Who Brunch Chicago began with a simple conversation between Jennifer Graham, and her niece, KaNesha Beckom, about hosting a business mixer. Somehow, that conversation grew into an idea neither of us expected: What if we asked everyone to step back in time with us to the 1950s? We wanted to celebrate how far women had come, while remembering a time when many of the opportunities we enjoy today were not available to women. So we invited our guests to dress the part to put on the hats, gloves, pearls, dresses, and suit to step back in time with us. What began as a business mixer soon became something much bigger: a celebration of progress, achievement, sisterhood and legacy. Year after year, the vision has continued to grow, bringing together women and men to celebrate those who are making a difference and leaving their mark. Today, we are proud to honor remarkable women whose accomplishments reach across science, medicine, business, entrepreneurship, education, community service, media, entertainment, the arts and more. Their stories remind us of the doors that have been opened and the possibilities still ahead. What started with one conversation has grown beyond anything we imagined. Each year, we continue the tradition of stepping back in time not just for the fashion or the fun, but to remind ourselves of just how far we've come.
